Preferences & Special requests

Preferred Playing Days:

NOTE: PLAYING DAY AVAILABILITY IS OUR TOP PRIORITY WHEN PUTTING THE TEAMS TOGETHER.

You have the opportunity to "X" out up to two days you cannot play -- only if necessary please!
Note: It's sometimes not possible to fully honour second day restrictions for our "older" competitive leagues but this is totally doable for Blastball and Junior T-Ball players (unless registering really late). We will do our best to ensure you don't have games those day(s).  Persons volunteering to accept responsibilities as a head (or assistant) coach may submit consideration for restriction for a third no-game day. Third-day restrictions really limit our ability to comply so this cannot be offered to everyone. We will do our best to honour your request(s) within our guidelines but cannot make any guarantees - especially if you register late.
Any Sunday and weekday games are at 6:30 pm, any Saturday games are at 9:00 am. Special "make-up" games are as agreed to by the team(s).

You may *X* out a day you CANNOT play:

( Sun.    Mon.     Tues.     Wed.     Thurs.     Fri.     Sat. a.m.)

If necessary, you may also “X” out a second day you need to avoid.  Unless you are a team Coach or Assistant Coach, this is not necessarily applicable for our Senior T-Ball and 3-Pitch leagues once we get into playoff game situations for the teams that decide to participate in such.

( Sun.   Mon.     Tues.     Wed.     Thurs.     Fri.     Sat. a.m.)

Note: Coaches & Assistant Coaches may indicate, if necessary, a 3rd day for their team to have no games on and we'll do our best to schedule around it as well. This should not be a problem for us to honour but it is strictly for Coaches and Assistants.

This "playing day preference" takes priority over any other requests (such as team-mates) you may make. Please do not place restrictions on the day(s) unless absolutely necessary. Due to limited diamond availability, Sunday evenings are part of our schedule as possible playing dates - unless noted otherwise by you when registering..

In our Senior T-Ball & 3-Pitch leagues, for all teams to face each of the other teams and to allow us to schedule make-up games, limited diamond availability means that we need more scheduling flexibility so meeting all of the "preferred days" guidelines may not always be possible --- especially applicable to teams that wish to participate in a season-ending championship tournament.  Reminder: We build the teams around those who volunteer to lead the coaching staffs so their playing days requests take priority and have a major influence on the team's schedule. If needed, coaches (and assistants) may request a third non-playing day and we'll do our best to schedule games accordingly.

Note: In 2017, in conjunction with the City of Kitchener and a grant from the Kitchener Sports Association, we added additional play areas (for Junior T-Ball) to the Franklin Park and Midland Park sites. These additions are entirely grass, i.e. no dirt infields. Use of them helps us facilitate scheduling for families with multiple players in our program's various leagues and keeps our games in the Stanley Park area of Kitchener. As of our 2019 season, again with funding from KSA, we have added a 3rd site at Franklin Park for our Junior T-Ball players.

Conflicts with two or more of your children playing --- at least one of whom is in either our Blastball or Junior T-Ball Program?

If you have children playing on one of our Blastball or Junior T-Ball teams, and one (or more) in one of our other leagues, and want to avoid having them playing on the same night (at different parks), please DO NOT "X" out days to try and accomplish this. Just declare the conflict on EACH of the player's forms by indicating ALL leagues involved.  We will do our best to schedule on different nights or on the same night at the same facility with others with similar request(s). (IF you have players in both our Blastball AND Junior T-Ball leagues, as much as possible, we try and schedule your two teams on non-conflicting playing days each week unless you specifically request otherwise.)  Please do not declare a conflict for multiple players if you're not concerned about the scheduling. Note: While our major focus with respect to "declared conflicts" is with those involving Blastball and/or Junior T-Ball players, utilization of the added "special playing areas" for Junior T-Ball games should benefit families involved in our Senior T-Ball and 3-Pitch leagues as well.

Request Priorities:

Our teams are built around the coaches and coaching staff, i.e. their requests are honoured first. For players, the highest priority is the "X"d out day(s) section and then the special request(s).  This means that, for example, if you indicate you don't want to play "Mondays" and want to be on the same team as "Ben" and he can't play "Tues" nor "Wed", you will be on a team that doesn't play Mondays but "Ben" most likely won't be on it.  Whenever possible, check with your desired teammate  --- mutual requests work best! Our priority is to put you on a team with a schedule that permits you to participate. Please carefully consider the importance of any requests as the more you make the less likely you are to be able to have them all honoured.  Once teams are set, they cannot be changed.

Priority summary -- we build the teams around:

  1. the availability of those volunteering to take on lead coaching roles
  2. playing day restrictions (Must fit in any suitable framework dictated by #1)
  3. player requests for specific playmates and/or coaches
  4. *only as applicable - scheduling coordination for those with siblings in our other leagues
  5. Average age of teams (for Senior T-Ball and the two 3-Pitch leagues)
  6. players attending the same school and/or same neighbourhood

IF you have to change the requests you specified on the original registration form, you must do so by email. Do NOT expect any subsequent preference changes on the form to be recognized as your original requests will have already been entered into the database and will likely already have been processed.

Special Requests:

If you wish to make a special request, e.g. specific team-mate and/or fellow coach, please indicate such and we will try to accommodate you but do not ask us to break the league definitions. Specifying a list of desired teammates means we'll probably have to select one or two that fit so do not provide a long list.

Two things should be remembered:

(i) limit any requests to those that really matter, and

(ii) try and arrange "mutual" requests, i.e. have each player request to play with the other and check playing day availability. Note: requests cannot  be honoured if registrants are in different leagues, or teams with different playing restrictions (that negates having a workable schedule), so please check with the other person and arrange to have a "mutual" request. Mutual requests work.
